Peter Nitsch grew up in the Upper Palatinate, a region in eastern Bavaria, Germany. He studied communication design at the Munich University of Applied Sciences.
Shaped by his quiet childhood in a remote area and the vibrant German skate scene of the late 1980s, Nitsch developed a unique way of telling stories. His photography focuses on people and their surroundings, capturing how personal and cultural identities form through everyday life and urban environments.
In 2006, he published his first photo book, Bangkok – Urban Identities. Over the years, Nitsch has received several awards for both his design and photography work, including recognition from the New York Festival and the Los Angeles International Photography Awards. He also co-founded Playboard, Europe’s first magazine that blended skate and snowboard culture, as well as the design studio RUPA.
In 2020, he was honored with lifetime membership in the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand.

“I like the portraiture, I like the mix with fashion photography, I like the use of light he does…the images connect to one another. They all create, and this is something that is difficult, variations – they talk to each other, they complement each other.“
Alejandro Cartagena, Curator
